Overexposed

Genre: Thriller; Starring: Karen Black, Catherine Oxenberg; Director: Larry Brand; Status: In Season; Runtime (in minutes): 80; MPAA Rating: R; Distributor: MGM/UA Home Video

The low-budget thrillers that appear on video without theatrical release seem to operate on the same principle as that high frequency reserved for dogs — you either get what they’re communicating or you don’t. Intellectual capacity is no particular help.

Overexposed is B-movie business as usual. Dynasty’s Catherine Oxenberg plays a soap opera starlet whose costars keep turning up in closets with their faces sliced off. There are many things to ponder on the way to the unintentionally riotous conclusion: Is Oxenberg the killer, or is it the handsome neighbor (William Bumiller) who may be a deranged fan? Is there any part that Karen Black (here playing a bag lady) will not accept? And isn’t there something better on, say, the Weather Channel? D
