Like red wine with pasta, Martin Scorsese’s ItalianAmerican, a loving tribute to his parents, makes a flavorful complement to his other films. Just released on tape, the 45-minute dialogue with Charles and Catherine Scorsese was filmed in their Little Italy apartment in 1974 as part of a public-TV series. It’s a virtual dress rehearsal for GoodFellas’ domestic scenes, as the Scorseses jabber anecdotes while Mom continually pops up to check on the meatballs she’s preparing.
