On her 12th album and 152nd haircut (a long, stringy do), Siouxsie Sioux of Siouxsie and the Banshees seems to have outlived her usefulness as both singer and role model for all those teenage girls who dye their hair black and dress as Morticia Addams to express their inner sorrow. Superstition is filled with technically perfect but entirely passionless modern rock, distinguished from the crowd only by Siouxsie’s horribly harsh and opaque voice. None of it even achieves the faintly praiseworthy state of being hypnotic. C-
