By now her store of these sprightly dishes, or her facility for dreaming them up, seems inexhaustible. For artichokes alone she’s come up with 16 different ideas, none of them farfetched. So on a soggy summer evening when inspiration fails, La Place can provide you with a supply of bracing ideas. B+
