Haunted by the labyrinthine plot twists of the Bank of Credit & Commercial International (BCCI) scandal? Then relax and wait for the book — or make that books. Pocket Books has the inside track with A Full Service Bank, by Doug Frantz of the Los Angeles Times and James Adams, formerly of The Wall Street Journal. Frantz is finishing his final rewrite, and Pocket publisher Irwyn Applebaum says, ”Once we get a manuscript, we will get the book produced within a matter of weeks.”
Peter Truell of the Journal and Larry Gurwin, formerly of Institutional Investor, have a $250,000 deal with Houghton Mifflin for an untitled BCCI book tentatively scheduled for fall ’92. And Time‘s reporters on the BCCI beat, S.C. Gwynne and Jonathan Beaty, have landed a $500,000 deal with Random House. Their book will appear sometime in 1993.
