As music-video controversies go, Prince’s direct-to-tape Sexy M.F., which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard music-video chart, proves surprisingly unexceptional. The nine-minute single — a Prince-steals-moll-from-bumbling-gangster neo-student film — bares less skin than a 90210 beach episode. His Purpleness seems more interested in fondling his gold-plated, gun-shaped microphone than his voluptuous companion (Troy Beyer). Then again, using motherf—er as a term of affection isn’t the best way to get dates or airplay. C-
