The sun is about to send out a megaflare and scorch the planet. Headed to the sun is a spaceship carrying an antimatter bomb to divert the flame and the forthcoming ”15 million friggin’ degrees,” but a megacorporation, believing the flare won’t happen, wants to sabotage the mission. Surprisingly, Solar Crisis — an expensive-looking Japanese-American co-production — is reasonably intelligent, tense, and watchable, with some clever and poetic special effects and fascinating scientific gobbledygook.
