Crazy Legs

Genre: Blues, Rock

Jeff Beck, who inspired most modern guitar-god worship, suddenly identifies publicly with Cliff Gallup, an obscure lead guitarist who helped Gene Vincent briefly define ’50s rock. Beck hired rootsy backup band the Big Town Playboys for Crazy Legs to flesh out this concept. Unfortunately, the wax-museum covers of Beck’s boyhood idol’s greatest nonhits are so dull, you’d never guess that live, the Big Town Playboys regularly blow the roofs off joints. C+
