We gave it an A+

Taking off from the premise that Newtonian reductionist science ”robbed the world of mystery and meaning,” this sweeping three-part BBC documentary then proposes that recent advances in astronomy and physics have led scientists to ”rediscover soul at the heart of the universe.” In this context, narrator Clare moves to reexamine the Really Big Questions: Who are we? Why are we here? What is God? An eloquent lineup of contemporary scientists, mathematicians, and theologians (here, Stephen Hawking is just one of the crowd) offer answers, and their comments range across the spectrum of emerging theory and belief. The news is good, the promise is great, and anyone who cares about either or both will not waste a minute in watching this remarkable program. A+
