JUST SAY 'KNOWN'

How do you capitalize on a brand name? Paramount attempted to do so with the sequel Addams Family Values, a follow-up to its 1991 $100-million-plus grosser. But the new installment brought in a less-than-monstrous $14.1 million in its first weekend-$10 million less than the original did-even though critics liked it. Meanwhile, Disney’s brat-pack version of the chestnut The Three Musketeers had to take on an upbeat new print ad in order to pull in the family crowd during the film’s second week. And the Pacino vehicle, Carlito’s Way, which featured him prominently in ads and trailers, was able to hold on strong in third place.
