Dogs Under Stress

Genre: Blues; Lead Performer: Moe Tucker; Status: In Season

Just because she was in a seminal rock band doesn’t mean former Velvet Underground drummer Moe Tucker can come up with a masterpiece of her own. On this solo album, she covers Bo Diddley (”Crackin’ Up”), salutes her Irish roots (”Danny Boy”), and yokes her own worldly-wise nursery rhyme lyrics to sparse, Velvets-like garage rock. Accompanied on some tracks by VU guitarist Sterling Morrison, Dogs Under Stress is a must-have for Velvets completists, but everyone else can live quite happily without. B-
