Aladdin

Genre: Sci-fi and Fantasy, Animation; Starring: Scott Weinger, Robin Williams; Director: John Musker, Ron Clements; Status: In Season; MPAA Rating: G; Distributor: Walt Disney Productions

It trails the tape release by almost a year, but 1,001 more brightly glowing colors put this THX-approved disc edition light-years ahead of VHS copies — and there’s none of that odd electronic squeeze used in the cassette version to keep the genie, Aladdin, his flying carpet, and his excitable monkey sidekick, Abu, together on screen. The only rub: The Day-Glo palettes are so intense, some laser players can’t render them without occasional sandstorms of grainy specks. A
