DEATHS British writer and comedian Peter Cook, 57, of a gastrointestinal hemorrhage on Jan. 9 in London. Cook was best known for his work with Beyond the Fringe, the comedy troupe he founded in 1959 with Oxbridgian friends Jonathan Miller, Alan Bennett, and Dudley Moore. He appeared in the film Bedazzled(1967) with Moore and the CBS television series The Two of Us (‘81-’ 82). ”(His death) hasn’t really registered yet,” says Moore. ”I’ll very much miss Peter’s always inventive wit.”
