We gave it a D+

Michael Jordan teaming up with Bugs, Daffy, Tweety, and Taz? Now, there’s a concept. But what’s next, doc? The best this movie’s deal makers come up with is an interplanetary basketball game pitting Jordan and his Looney Tunes pals against some animated monsters. Unfortunately, it takes an uneventful hour or so for the game to begin; in the meantime, we’re supposed to be enthralled by the mere sight of live-action Mike in an animated world. With less plot than the average five-minute cartoon, this feels more like a feature-length promo gimmick than a movie. That’s not surprising, considering that a Nike commercial inspired it. Viewing tip: Persuade the kids to fast-forward to the climactic contest. It’s not much cleverer than the rest of Space Jam, but it moves faster.
