Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf made headlines this week

Hollywood movies may not have been the toast of Cannes, but at least Tinseltown’s favorite beverage fared well. The quaff on the Croisette was the Ice Blended, the coffee-flavored milk shake from the Southern California chain the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Festival coordinators ”asked us to go,” says the Bean’s Nathan Pratt, explaining how the concession ended up on the Cote d’Azur, ”and we figured it would be a fun surprise for our customers.” Mira Sorvino, Tim Burton, and James Woods were among those glad to see the refreshment. And according to Michael Kirk, who manned the Bean’s booth, it didn’t lose a thing in translation. ”First, it was just the industry types,” Kirk says, ”but by the end of the week, French security guards were looking for them.”
