Michael Bolton made headlines this week

Michael Bolton may have conquered the music world, but what he really wants to be is (a) a movie star, (b) a screenwriter, or (c) a producer? The answer? All of the above, natch. Bolton, whose ”Go the Distance” is on the Hercules soundtrack, is taking his tresses from recording studio to Hollywood studio. He’s already written the screenplay for a courtroom drama, which he sold to Columbia TriStar. ”It’s about a civil attorney who turns criminal attorney because he gets pulled into a case,” says Bolton, who plans to star in and coproduce the thriller. ”I want to see what I can do in other arenas.” No kidding. He’s also managed to pen a children’s book, The Secret of the Lost Kingdom, due from Hyperion in the fall. The career stretching isn’t without its downside. Says the lion-maned crooner: ”I have to cut my hair. Not a buzz, but something short. I am playing an attorney.”
