And doubtless some of the more famous faces in Jean Howard’s Hollywood, caught as they are in moments of exquisite relaxation, may initially escape recognition — yes, that means you, Warren Beatty. It doesn’t matter, as Howard’s trilling, merciless captions make one feel like a dear, dear friend who just happened to be out of town for all those parties and picnics and croquet games. No regrets — not now that this 1989 release is out in paperback. A
