We gave it a B

The late composer Henry Mancini offered plenty of grist for the jazz mill, so it makes sense that the genre’s musicians would pay their respects. This tribute by saxophonist James Moody’s quartet is a not-always-coherent affair. But between the sly opener, ”The Pink Panther,” and loving finale, ”Two for the Road,” Moody does right by Mancini in Moody Plays Mancini. B
