You’d think it wouldn’t wilt a slithering tropical terror, but the intense heat of Liar Liar and Volcano bested Anaconda on its tape debut. Rentals of both the Jim Carrey lawyer farce and the L. A. geological farce barely slackened in their second week, with Liar again doing as much rental business as its three closest competitors combined. With That Old Feeling also charting high, Sling Blade finally slipped out of the top 10 after an 11-week run. Next week we’ll see if the former Snake Plissken, Kurt Russell, can unseat Carrey with Breakdown.
