We gave it a B+

Hardly a nostalgia act, in recent years Cheap Trick have quietly (well, not that quietly) become one of rock’s most thrilling live bands. Music for Hangovers, culled from a 1998 four-night stand in Chicago, offers galvanizing versions of ”Surrender” and ”Dream Police” alongside such exquisite pure-pop gems as ”I Can’t Take It” and ”If You Want My Love.” Pumpkins Billy Corgan and D’arcy trumpet their extraordinary taste by guesting on two tracks.
