The Corruptor

Genre: Action/Adventure, Mystery and Thriller; Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Chow Yun-Fat; Director: James Foley; MPAA Rating: R

Chow Yun-Fat’s the dirty maverick who leads Manhattan’s Asian Gang Unit with an underacting Mark Wahlberg as his green partner in The Corruptor, a routine, humorless garble of good-cop/bad-cop clichés. Name one? While they discharge their weapons practically every time they hit the streets of Chinatown, this pair would have trouble shooting a panda off a teacup. The small screen suits James Foley’s energetic NYPD Blue-ish direction fine, but the guy who captured the verbal pyrotechnics of Glengarry Glen Ross should never again have a villain purr ”All in good time.” C
