We gave it a C-

In Saving Faith, — a plodding political thriller about a lady lobbyist with great legs and a private eye with bulging biceps who get caught in the deadly cross fire of a covert power struggle between the CIA and the FBI — Baldacci displays a gift for reducing the complex hypocrisy, corruption, and infighting of contemporary Washington to the glib level of a ”Man From U.N.C.L.E.” rerun. With lumbering exposition, cringe-inducing dialogue, and a bogus bunch of characters that includes a high-ranking villain who does everything but twirl his mustache like Simon Legree, Baldacci wipes out all promise of suspense.
