WHAT: This futuristic watering hole, which has been described as ”2001 meets 3001,” is the latest stop for hip bon vivants on the Manhattan pub crawl.

WHERE: The second floor of hotelier Ian Schrager’s 1,000-room Hudson hotel, which in its first three weeks of business was host to parties for Jennifer Lopez, Matt Damon, and Hillary Rodham Clinton.

DRINK SPECIALS: Hudson Cosmos (with edible pansies); Baja margaritas; apple martinis with a brown sugar kick.

FUTURE SHOCK: The room evokes A Clockwork Orange‘s infamous Milk Bar; seating includes a log with built-in chair backs, carved wooden African stools, and antiques upholstered in a ”technogel” fabric that reflects the glow from the underlit glass floor. Artist Francesco Clemente’s trippy designs decorate the ceiling. ”It’s almost an art gallery rather than a bar,” says manager Ben Pundole. ”People always touch the seats on the log and squish the technogel chairs.”

THE GREAT ESCAPE: When the din is too much — and believe us, it can be — revelers head to the Library, which boasts a purple pool table and cheeky Jean-Baptiste Mondino photographs.
