Greatest Hits Volume 2 (James Taylor)

Genre: Rock; Lead Performer: James Taylor

James Taylor hasn’t changed his easygoin’, honey-cured style over the decades, but the 16-track collection of post-1976 work Greatest Hits Volume 2 shows his output hasn’t slacked, either — 1997’s Hourglass included some of his most poignant work in years. Sure, there are odd omissions (where’s ”Bartender’s Blues”?) and dated, overly fussy productions like ”Up on the Roof.” And were all these really hits? But my adolescent crush still makes me smile. B+
