This week in Hollywood -- Cher is writing a script, while ''Jurassic Park 3'' names its dinosaurs

In the wake of the Grinch phenomenon, another mean, green monster machine may be on its way to the screen: David Hayter, the latest writer on the Universal project, has penned a well received draft of The Incredible Hulk. This adaptation has Bruce Banner on the run (natch) after a little run in with gamma technology; unlike the TV series, Banner will find romance and will also battle a villain from the original comic book series, Absorbing Man. No thoughts yet on who might play the verklemmt, often shirtless scientist, but might we suggest Ryan Phillippe? (Hey, if Tobey Maguire can play Spider Man…)

Before we go any further, banish ”Do you believe in life after love” from your mind, and allow us to remind you that the woman is an Oscar-winning actress. All right, then. Cher is writing a script she plans to direct called The Enchanted Cottage. which she says is ”about a woman in the music business. It’ll start probably happy and danceable, but then she gets in a terrible accident, so I think it’ll go into a darker place.” Uh, once more for the slow section? Continues Cher, ”She kind of goes through a lot and comes out the other end, so it won’t be exactly what it started with and it won’t be exactly what’s in the middle.” Oh, now we get it.

Casting news from Jurassic Park 3, sure to make you a hit at the office holiday party! Assuming you can pronounce their names, of course. Among the leading dinosaurs will be: Apatosaurus, Spinosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Compsognathus, Pachycephalosaurus, Pterosaur, and Ankylosaurus. Chew on that.
