Getting Horny

The animal horn trend is turning upward

Unlike the stock market, one of the first accessories trends of the new year is rather bullish: Jewelry featuring animal horns has been spotted everywhere from Marie Claire to Vogue. The most prominent placement by far is in Jennifer Lopez’s MTV Making the Video appearance for her single ”Love Don’t Cost a Thing,” where the star frets over whether to don a necklace with an ivory-colored horn. ”I’m not sure about the horn, but I’m gonna go with it,” Lopez says on the show. But the star needn’t worry about the jungle-style bling bling. ”Safari-ish things have really taken off in the last six months,” says designer and former Ralph Lauren creative director Virginia Witbeck, who has made several horn-shaped pieces. ”It’s a ’70s classic sporty look.”
