BABY BOOM After weeks of denials, a spokewoman for international woman of mystery Elizabeth Hurley acknowledged that the model/actress/producer is pregnant. The 36-year-old Brit is expecting a child in April, fathered by her boyfriend, American movie producer Stephen Bing (”Get Carter”). The child will be the first for Hurley, whose 13-year relationship with Hugh Grant ended a year and a half ago. Grant is still close to his ex, however, and visited her at home just hours after yesterday’s announcement….

Meet the future parents: ”Zoolander” couple Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor are expecting their first child. Stiller, 36, and Taylor, 30, have been married since May 2000. Grandfather-to-be Jerry Stiller said his son phoned him on the set of ”The King of Queens” with the news. ”He said, ‘You’re going to be a grandfather,”’ the 74-year-old Stiller tells People magazine. ”I said, ‘I’m so glad, so happy but I still have to learn my lines!”’

HANDLE WITH CARE Is George Harrison undergoing last-ditch cancer treatment? That’s the latest set of reports from several British tabloids, which say the 58-year-old ex-Beatle recently checked into Staten Island University Hospital in New York City, where Dr. Gil Lederman, the hospital’s director of radiation oncology, is administering a radical treatment called stereotactic radiosurgery that is supposed to attack tumors with radiation without harming the surrounding tissue. The tactic is supposedly recommended only for patients in the final stages of terminal cancer. Earlier this year, Harrison did undergo treatment for a brain tumor at a Swiss clinic and treatment for lung cancer at the Mayo Clinic.

However, some previous reports, like the one in July that quoted Beatles producer George Martin as saying that Harrison was preparing to die, have proved false. The current story is difficult to verify, since Harrison apparently no longer employs a spokesperson. However, the hospital has been unwilling to confirm or deny that Harrison has been admitted, while a search by music news site Launch.com turned up no patients admitted under the names Harrison or Arrias (his wife Olivia’s maiden name, cited by the Daily Telegraph and other British papers as the name under which he was hospitalized). The Express, a paper that said Olivia and 23-year-old son Dhani were keeping a vigil at Harrison’s bedside, also quoted Paul McCartney as saying, ”I spoke to him a couple of weeks ago, and he seemed good. He’s my brother, we speak a lot.”As recently as a month ago, George and Dhani were writing a song called ”A Horse to Water” and recording it for ”Small World, Big Friends,” an upcoming album by ex-Squeeze keyboardist Jools Holland.
