Not only does David Arquette believe his new movie has legs, he also loves the name. Formerly called Arac Attack, the March release was recently retitled Eight Legged Freaks. ”I ad-libbed the line in looping,” explains Mr. Courteney Cox Arquette, who says the moniker fits the film’s quirky tone: ”It’s in the vein of —Gremlins—slightly scary, but funny, too.” In Freaks, Arquette inherits a gold mine that becomes a breeding ground for overgrown, mutant spiders. ”There’s a tarantula, a jumping spider, a spitting spider, and an orb weaver—which wraps its prey in a cocoon and brings the present back to the mother, who sucks out the blood,” he says. ”We have a lot of Discovery Channel scares in this movie.”
