After spending the night in the Polk County, Florida, jailhouse, R. Kelly was once again a free man after paying $750,000 in bail Thursday afternoon. During his arraignment on child pornography charges at a courthouse in Bartow, Florida, Judge Karla Wright set the bail and forbade the singer from having any contact with minors who are not family members.

Kelly was arrested at his rented home in central Florida Wednesday after Chicago police issued a nationwide warrant for his arrest on 21 felony counts stemming from the notorious video that purportedly shows him engaged in several sex acts with a 14-year-old girl. Kelly had initially dismissed the tape as a forgery, but now that FBI experts have authenticated it, Kelly’s lawyer, Ed Genson, is saying instead that the woman depicted on the tape is not a minor, and therefore, no crime occurred, whether or not the man on the tape is Kelly. The R&B star was expected to return to Chicago on Friday, Genson told reporters, ”as soon as he gets his composure, as soon as he sees his wife and kisses his babies, as soon as he puts on a new set of clothes and is able to get a few hours’ sleep.”
