Kiefer Sutherland’s counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer may not get any more sleep during the next season of ”24” than he did during the debut season’s daylong adventure. But at least he’ll have some female companionship. Fox has cast Australian actress Sarah Wynter as the new female lead, according to the Hollywood Reporter. She’ll replace Leslie Hope, whose character, Jack’s ill-fated wife, was killed off in the season finale.

Wynter, who played a mysterious villainess opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in ”The 6th Day” and starred in the art-house costume drama ”Bride of the Wind,” will appear on ”24” as a wealthy young woman who becomes entangled in the intrigue of Jack’s next mission, according to the Reporter. Of course, she’ll also be a potential love interest for Sutherland’s weary widower. Which means: Watch your back, Sarah.
