Will and Tommy may be the stars of MIBII, but it’s their smush-faced cohort Mushu (a.k.a. Frank the pug) who’s setting the film’s biggest trend. Dog experts are bracing for a wrinkled-face explosion as pugs become the summer’s must-have pup. ”After the original Men in Black, the dogs became very faddish,” says former breeder and current pugs.com webmaster Marcy Heathman. ”We’re already seeing breeders advertise ‘Frank the Pug’ dogs.” Unlike dalmatians, which are not the most cuddly dogs despite their 101 status, purebred pugs are kid-friendly. But, Heathman cautions, the pooches (which can cost $400-$800) don’t ”talk or go down the road singing.” So is Frank’s boorish behavior totally fictional? ”They are noisy animals,” says Heathman. ”They snore, fart, and shed like mad.” But only after offing all those nasty-ass aliens.
