THE LAST MAN David Arnott, Jeri Ryan (2002, Lions Gate, 93 mins., R, also on DVD) When bumbling anthropologist Alan (Arnott) believes a gorgeous young woman (Boston Public’s Ryan) is the only other person to evade an apocalyptic coma, he gleefully sets courtship in motion. But when a hunky backpacker (Dan Montgomery), thwarts his chances, the ridiculous plot moves from slow to snail-paced. Add the characters’ lifeless monologues as they document their misadventures, and the film emerges as the true existential crisis.
