''XXX'' director may film The Rock's Hawaiian epic

''XXX'' director may film The Rock's Hawaiian epic. Rob Cohen may take a break from working with Vin Diesel to direct a biopic starring the rival rising action star

XXX, meet WWE. Vin Diesel and The Rock may soon have something in common besides being young-ish, racially mixed bruisers who are contending for the Hollywood action crown that has been all but abdicated by Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, et. al. The two may also have director Rob Cohen pushing them to the next level. Cohen, who directed Diesel in ”The Fast and the Furious” and “XXX,” is in talks to film The Rock’s biopic of Hawaii’s King Kamehameha, Variety reports.

Cohen, who has a home in Maui, might be an apt choice to shoot the wrestler/actor’s pet project, which has been described as a Polynesian ”Braveheart” about the warrior king who united the Hawaiian islands in the late 18th century. Both Cohen and the ”Scorpion King” star have other things to do first, however; Cohen and Diesel plan to shoot the sequel to ”XXX” (which doesn’t open until Friday but is widely expected to be a hit), while The Rock is set to shoot the action comedy ”Helldorado” this fall.
