Much of the talk surrounding Jennifer Lopez revolves around which man she’s linked to this week (currently: Ben Affleck). So it’s no wonder she wants to hang with the girls for a while. Variety reports that she’s bought the film rights to a manuscript called ”Dirty Girls Club,” for a film she’d produce and star in. It’s a story about a group of Latina college classmates who reunite 10 years after graduation and frequently after that.
The novel was written by former pop music journalist Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez in just 10 days last February after her bitter split from the Los Angeles Times, which she’d accused of racial insensitivity. St. Martin’s Press will publish the book. Valdes-Rodriguez has said she’d like to see Lopez play Usnavys, a Puerto Rican character whose mother named her after the U.S. Navy armada docked in San Juan. Lopez is currently in production on Kevin Smith’s ”Jersey Girl,” in which she and Affleck will play a married couple.
