Wednesday night’s ”American Idol” recap episode is being expanded to an hour, perhaps to make room for Justin Guarini’s hair. Last year’s ”Idol” runner-up returns to sing a new song from his yet-untitled RCA album. The CD is due in stores on June 10, three days before the theatrical release of ”From Justin to Kelly,” the beach party movie he made with ”Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson, who has returned to the ”Idol” stage twice to sing and promote her new album, ”Thankful.”

In other words, don’t expect ”Idol” personalities to be idle after the season finale on May 21. Judge Simon Cowell is taping a ”Simpsons” episode, where he’ll play the picky admissions director of the nursery school where the family wants to enroll Maggie. And this season’s finalists are going on a 39-city summer tour that starts July 8 in St. Paul, Minn. Tickets go on sale starting May 16; date and venue information is available at the ”American Idol” website
