Kimberly Caldwell may have been voted off ”American Idol” a couple weeks back, but Fox is keeping her in the family. Fox Sports Net has hired the blonde Texan as an entertainment correspondent for its extreme-sports show, ”54321.” She’ll be chatting up celebrities at red-carpet events, like this week’s ”X2: X-Men United” premiere in Hollywood, or the upcoming party for the ”Eco-Challenge Playboy Extreme Team.” In other words, the same sort of gig that other recent ousted reality show contestants, like ”Idol”’s Frenchie Davis and ”The Bachelorette”’s Charlie Maher, have landed.

”Without a doubt, Kimberly exudes star power,” John Johnston, the show’s executive producer, said in a statement.”She captures the energy, spirit and confidence that is part of the extreme sports genre. Her expertise in the music scene also provides a great deal of credibility to the entertainment pieces that are featured on ‘54321.”’ For her part, Caldwell said, ”I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of ‘54321.’ To go from singing in front of millions of people, to interviewing movie stars on the red carpet, is a dream come true. I am thankful for this great opportunity and hope to have an instant impact on the show.”
