”Animatrix,” Shmanimatrix. You want to see a set of cartoon movie prequels full of rubber-suited babes kicking martial-arts butt? Check out the six-part ”Charlie’s Angels: Animated Adventures.” Like the nine-part ”Animatrix” series, this set offers some backstory to one of this summer’s action-movie blockbusters. In this case, it’s a story that pits the three comely sleuths against the kidnappers of a U.S. marshal, in a globe-trotting adventure that anticipates the release of ”Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” on June 27.

The first two-minute installment, ”Most Delicious Angels,” was posted online on Tuesday at The next five episodes will be posted on subsequent Tuesdays through June 17. If these shorts become popular, maybe such cartoon stopgap films will become a trend, and we’ll get to see clips like ”The Termanimator” and ”The Lord of the Rings: The Two-and-a-Half Towers.”
