Bob Guiney may have lasted only three episodes on ”The Bachelorette,” but he has no hard feelings against Trista Rehn for having dumped him. For one thing, he’ll follow in her footsteps by starring in next fall’s season of ”The Bachelor,” ABC announced Wednesday. Not only that, he even plans to sing at the wedding of Trista and her pick, Ryan Sutter, which ABC will also televise.
Rehn, of course, also got her starring gig after being jilted on ABC’s reality matchmaking show. After she picked Ryan, the couple appeared on ”Oprah,” where Rehn turned down Oprah Winfrey’s offer to pay for the wedding if she could televise it. She said she wanted the nuptials to be private because ”it’s something that’s honest and sacred to me.” Apparently, she changed her mind; ABC will invite the whole country to her wedding, which will be spread over four hours this fall.
As for Guiney, the 32-year-old mortgage broker from Michigan, he tells USA Today he’s become so famous as ”Bachelor Bob” that he’s barely had time to work at his day job. He’s appeared on ”Oprah” five times and has a deal to write a book, ”What a Difference a Year Makes,” due this winter. The onetime lead singer of the band Fat Army has also lost 40 pounds (down to 205). ABC is taking applications now for women who want to date him, appear on the show, and get written about in the book.
