Foul! Lisa Brescher, a hairstylist for Fox Sports network’s The Best Damn Sports Show Period, filed a suit against the net, hosts Tom Arnold, 44, and John Salley, 39, and others, for sexual harassment and retaliation. Brescher claims that when she complained that Salley, a former NBA player, made unwelcome sexual advances, Arnold banished her from the set. The net said it conducted an investigation and ”none of [Brescher’s]allegations…were corroborated.” Reps for both Arnold and Salley say the claims have ”no merit.”… On April 30, litigious lovebirds Catherine Zeta-Jones, 33, and Michael Douglas, 58, threatened legal action against Clear Channel Worldwide, claiming the company published Internet pictures of the actress ”heavily pregnant and topless” (and smoking). Clear Channel says it has removed all offending photos…. The Recording Industry Association of America settled a suit against four college students, claiming they were operating illegal file-trading websites. The students agreed to cease and to pay fines, though they admitted no wrongdoing…. Chuck Lorre, 49, creator and exec producer of the ’90s sitcom Grace Under Fire, is suing producers Carsey-Werner-Mandabach for $3.4 million he claims he lost in part because his profits were paid out to cast and crew who were sexually and verbally harassed by the show’s star, Brett Butler. The producers had no comment. Butler has denied the charges.

On April 29, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the formation of the Campaign Reform Committee to enforce stricter regulations for Oscar campaigning, which AMPAS president Frank Piersen believes ”has gotten so strident and out of hand” that it ”damages the Oscars’ credibility as a symbol of excellence.”
