Good news for ”24” fans: Not only did the show earn 10 Emmy nominations on Thursday, including Best Drama Series, but when the show’s third season premieres this fall, the first episode will be uninterrupted by ads. As with last year’s season premiere, the hour will be sponsored by Ford, which will run longer commercials at the beginning and end of the episode.
The series will pick up three years after the events of May’s cliffhanger. Dennis Haysbert’s President Palmer, having somehow survived the biological attempt on his life, will likely be in the midst of a reelection campaign, Fox Entertainment chief Gail Berman suggested to reporters at the TV critics’ confab in Hollywood on Thursday. Also, Kiefer Sutherland’s Counter-Terrorism Unit agent Jack Bauer will have a new colleague at CTU: his kidnap-prone daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert).
Fans who can’t wait until the Oct. 28 premiere will get a taste of the new season on Sept. 7. A four-minute trailer for the show will air that night during Fox’s broadcast of the movie ”Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.” The trailer will also play in theaters in October.
