Kelly Clarkson’s next project should be a real toe-tapper. She’s the latest pop diva-ette to appear in print ads for Candie’s shoes, following in the footsteps of Destiny’s Child, Ashanti, and Kelly Osbourne. ”I’m really excited to be a Candie’s girl,” the ”American Idol” champ said in a statement. ”Candie’s ads are totally different from everybody else’s. They’re so random; you never know what they are going to do next. They like to shake things up, and do things differently, that’s what’s so cool about it.” The ads will appear in magazines this fall.
Clarkson will also shake things up by going from ”American Idol” to ”American Dreams.” She’ll appear this fall on the season premiere of the NBC drama, which continues its gimmick of enlisting current music stars to make cameo performances in character as pop icons of 40 years ago. Clarkson will play Brenda Lee and sing Lee’s hit ”Sweet Nothings,” NBC announced Thursday. Other stars slated to appear this season include Alicia Keys (as Fontella Bass, singing ”Rescue Me”), Monica (as Mary Wells, singing ”My Guy”), and Hilary Duff and her sister Haylie (as the Shangri-Las, presumably singing ”Leader of the Pack”).
