Bruce Almighty

He may or may not be the Boss of us, but Bruce Springsteen is certainly the king of the road most of the time he’s touring. His Philly stand earned the week’s top concert dollar, followed by a Metallica/Summer Sanitarium one-nighter at the L.A. Coliseum. In third place, a week’s worth of Celine Dion shows in Vegas played to the full houses she typically commands in her ongoing run. The Dead nearly sold out a five-night stand at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre, while the Dave Matthews Band packed the Gorge in George (got that?).

DMX Grand Champ (Def Jam) The actor and would-be Saturday-morning-TV tycoon (he’s got a cartoon named after his dog in the works) is joined by Cam’ron and 50 Cent on his fifth CD.

DAVID BOWIE Reality (ISO/Columbia) Bowie’s new LP includes a cover of the Modern Lovers’ ”Pablo Picasso.” Once an art rocker, always an art rocker.

SHELBY LYNNE Identity Crisis (Capitol) Grammy-winning country singer Lynne gets personal with self-penned songs of introspection, seven of which are laced with keyboards courtesy of Little Feat’s Bill Payne.

A PERFECT CIRCLE Thirteenth Step (Virgin) If you feel ”Weak and Powerless,” like the first single from the metal band’s latest, then checking out this album is the logical next Step.
