Evanescence guitarist and cofounder Ben Moody lived up to the band’s name and disappeared. So reports MTV News, which says that Moody mysteriously up and left the ”Bring Me to Life” band in the midst of its European tour. On Oct. 24, the morning before a scheduled show in Berlin, Moody packed up his gear ”in a huff” and flew back to America without explanation, the band’s manager told MTV.

It was the second time Moody had failed to appear at the duo’s German concerts. In June, Evanescence had canceled several German dates because Moody fell ill.

The band has continued the tour, which ends in London on Nov. 10, with second-string guitarist John LeCompt filling in for Moody. According to Britain’s Rock Sound magazine, frontwoman/cofounder Amy Lee announced her partner’s departure at a concert in Manchester. ”Ben flew home, but we didn’t want to let it cancel the tour again,” she told the audience. ”You don’t do that to your band. You wouldn’t do that to your friends or your family. You don’t do that to anyone,” she told the magazine.

Evanescence is scheduled to tour North America in November and December, followed by dates in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan. No word on whether Moody will be back; his future with the band is unclear, the manager told MTV.
