Sean Paul ranks among 2003’s top breakouts

At summer’s peak, it seemed like Paul’s hip-grinding dancehall hits – ”Gimme the Light,” ”Get Busy,” and ”Like Glue” – came installed in every SUV from Manhattan to Mendocino. And if selling more than 2 million copies of his second disc, ”Dutty Rock,” wasn’t enough, Paul’s ragga rhymes brought Jamaican swagger to some of the year’s biggest R&B/rap hits, like Beyoncé’s ”Baby Boy” and Busta Rhymes’ ”Make It Clap (Remix).” All of which fueled a Kingston-to-Brooklyn crossover not seen since the days of Bob Marley.
