Click me, baby, one more time. Eminem and Britney Spears were among the most searched-for celebrities on the Internet this year, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Spears was the top-ranked celeb on Lycos, while she slipped just behind Eminem on Yahoo. Spears slumped earlier in the year, falling out of Lycos’ top ten entirely for a few weeks, but returned to prominence after smooching Madonna, according to the Reporter.

”Harry Potter,” ”The Lord of the Rings,” and ”The Matrix” led movie searches, followed by ”Spider-Man” and ”8 Mile.” And reality TV ruled AOL’s message boards, with ”American Idol,” ”Survivor,” ”Paradise Hotel,” and ”Big Brother” dominating conversations. And in an honor that filmmakers might not appreciate, ”Finding Nemo” was most likely the year’s most-downloaded movie on file-sharing networks. Finally, the year’s fastest-growing search term was ”Paris Hilton” — searches for that name went up 212,000 percent at Yahoo. Wow, ”The Simple Life” sure is popular.
