”My job as a portrait photographer is to seduce, amuse, and entertain,” Helmut Newton – who died on Jan. 23 at 83 after crashing his Cadillac into a wall near L.A.’s Chateau Marmont – once mused. Called the King of Kink, Newton also provoked, with erotically charged black-and-white fashion shots of leggy women. But once his work found credibility in Vogue and Vanity Fair, the Berlin native proved to be a true master in the art of seduction.
