Hot Plastic

Genre: Fiction; Author: Peter Craig

Con man Jerry Swift has been dragging his 15-year-old son, Kevin, through America’s dingiest boonies as long as the poor kid can remember. They set up false businesses, swindle unsuspecting families, and leave behind nothing but a trail of dust when they peel out of town. But when Jerry hooks up – in more ways than one – with precocious teenage runaway Colette, the complicated father/son relationship takes on a competitive new dynamic as jealousy (not to mention the cops) creeps into the picture. Craig, the son of Sally Field, has a crafty command of his story, and he zips through the trio’s schemes with verve, humor, and heart. It’ll be exciting to see what other literary tricks this promising writer has up his sleeve.
