He tries to get out, but they keep pulling him back in. According to Daily Variety, it’s possible that Kelsey Grammer could wind up playing cerebral psychologist Frasier Crane in yet another sitcom. Even as ”Frasier” approached its May 13 finale, NBC met with the show’s production company, Paramount, last month to discuss placing the character in a new show, set in a new city, with a new supporting cast, the trade paper reported. However, NBC has apparently turned down the proposal, which would allow producers to take it to another network.

It’s unclear how enthusiastic Grammer would be to reprise the Frasier role, which he played for nine years on ”Cheers” before the 11-year run of ”Frasier” (tying the record for character longevity held by ”Gunsmoke”’s James Arness, who played Marshal Matt Dillon for 20 years). But if the show goes forward, CBS, which like Paramount is owned by Viacom, would be a likely choice to host it, according to Variety. Any chance for ”The Lilith Show” instead?
