NBC plans dieting reality show

NBC plans dieting reality show. Overweight people will compete on the network's ''The Biggest Loser''

Goodbye, liposuction; hello, dieting and exercise. That’s the theme of the upcoming NBC reality series ”The Biggest Loser,” in which a dozen or so overweight people will compete to shed the most fat, according to Variety. Contestants – who will each be carrying at least 35 extra pounds – will move into a house together, the trade paper reported. There, they’ll try several different eating and exercise plans.

But don’t expect any starvation diets. ”We want to create a healthy way for them to lose weight,” exec producer Dave Broome told Variety. ”Nobody here will be eating only 400 calories a day.” Another exec producer, Ben Silverman, has high hopes for the show’s social impact. He told Variety: ”Hopefully we will inspire an overweight America to get fit.” So, in other words, try this at home.
