We gave it an A-

Coxsone Dodd, who died May 4 of a heart attack, was best known for the ska and rocksteady tracks he released on his Studio One label in the mid-’60s. But he continued to crank out quality material well into the reggae era, and this compilation documents his experiments with dub. His remixes aren’t as trippy as those of innovators like King Tubby, but his light touch lets the excellent original Studio One cuts shine through.
